On the morning of September 22, 2024, the Andrology and Fertility Hospital of Hanoi (AF HANOI) successfully held the “5th Scientific Conference”. This event was a part of a series of activities in honor of the hospital’s 15th anniversary. The conference served as an opportunity for specialists and doctors to discuss the current state of male infertility treatment from a practical and multidimensional perspective. Additionally, several new research findings were shared by leading experts and experienced doctors, updating delegates on effective treatment methods for patients.
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tao – Chairman of the Hanoi of Society Assisted Reproduction – HASAR and former Deputy Director of the Center for Embryo Technology (now the Military Institute of Clinical Embryology and Histology); Prof. Tran Thi Phuong Mai – Former Deputy Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang – Chairman of the Vietnam Society for Sexual Medicine and Director of the Department of Andrology at Viet Duc University Hospital. Nearly 200 delegates, including leading experts and doctors from major hospitals and medical centers across the country, attended the conference. From Andrology and Fertility Hospital of Hanoi, notable participants included: MD.MSc. Le Thi Thu Hien – Medical Director of the Hospital; MD. Specialist level 1 Pham Van Huong, Deputy Medical Director and Head of the Reproductive Support Department; MSc. Nguyen Minh Duc – Head of the Reproductive Support Lab; and MD.MSc.Dinh Huu Viet – Head of the Andrology Department, among others.
At the 5th Scientific Conference, in addition to research presentations by leading specialists from major hospitals and eproductive endocrinology and infertility centers, such as: “Male Infertility: Current Challenges and Future Directions” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang (Director of the Andrology Department, Viet Duc University Hospital and Chairman of the Vietnam Society for Sexual Medicine), and “Disorders of Sexual Development and Reproductive Function” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Chi Dung (Director of the Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism, Genetics, and Molecular Therapy at the National Hospital of Pediatrics), the Andrology and Fertility Hospital of Hanoi also presented three significant research reports: “Male Infertility: A Practical Perspective at Andrology and Fertility Hospital of Hanoi” by MD.MSc. Dinh Huu Viet, Head of the Andrology Department; “Preparation of Severely Abnormal Sperm Samples in Reproductive Support” by MSc. Nguyen Minh Duc, Head of the Reproductive Support Lab; and “Pre-implantation Genetic Testing in Male Infertility: When Is It Necessary?” presented by Ph.D. Dr. Bui Thi Phuong Hoa in Genetics. These three topics were presented by doctors and embryologists at the conference with the aim of sharing knowledge and receiving feedback from experts in genetics, andrology, and reproductive support. At the same time, they provided new perspectives on male infertility treatment from the aspects of genetics and embryology, based on practical experience at the hospital.
In her remarks at the conference, MD.MSc.Le Thi Thu Hien (Medical Director of the AF HANOI) said: “In addition to our daily medical services, Andrology and Fertility Hospital of Hanoi places great emphasis on scientific research. Scientific research generates new, highly reliable knowledge, enhances treatment quality and safety for patients, and increases effectiveness at a reasonable cost. Moreover, scientific research allows doctors and medical staff to continually improve their knowledge and skills by examining issues from a professional perspective, with the ultimate goal of achieving the best outcomes for patients. We have been, and will continue, to strive in both medical services and scientific research to bring new breakthroughs to Vietnamese medicine.”
The conference successfully created an open forum for sharing experiences and knowledge. The enthusiastic participation of experts and doctors fostered a lively and beneficial discussion space, seeking new directions for the field of andrology.
