Female infertility due to blocked fallopian tubes

01/06/2021

Fallopian tubes have a very important function in the fertilization process, capable of catching ovum, moving ovum, sperm and fertilized eggs into the uterus for implantation. If the fallopian tube is blocked, it will adversely affect fertility.

Blocked fallopian tubes causes

There are many causes of blocked fallopian tubes: It can be caused by a sexually transmitted infection caused by Chlamydia or other types of gonorrhea bacteria; Due to poor hygiene, especially hygiene during menstruation, creating favorable conditions for bacteria to enter causing vaginal or cervical infections, if not treated properly, it will cause inflammation upstream to the fallopian tubes, causing the fallopian tubes blockage.

In addition, unsafe abortion, multiple abortions are also one of the leading causes of blocked fallopian tubes. Normally, the cervix plays a role in preventing bacteria from entering. However, when a woman has multiple miscarriages, childbirth or abortion, the infection will go upstream from the vagina and spread through the cervix to the uterus and fallopian tubes, causing inflammation of the fallopian tubes.

Affects fertility

When the fallopian tubes are blocked, it will prevent sperm from meeting the egg, which can lead to ectopic pregnancy or difficulty conceiving, infertility, even infertility.

Obstructive fallopian tube inflammation is the main cause of ectopic pregnancy because when the fallopian tube is blocked, the egg cannot move to the uterus for implantation but develops right in the fallopian tube (the most common case), or clinging above the ovary, even in the abdomen or in the cervix, at the junction between the fallopian tube and the uterus… When the fetus ruptures, it will cause a lot of blood loss and fast, which can cause death or affect the ability to get pregnant in the future.

Signs you need to see a doctor?

Obstructive fallopian tube infections often have no obvious symptoms. Patients need to be examined by a specialist and do some necessary tests to make an accurate diagnosis. However, if there are some suspicious symptoms such as irregular periods, abdominal discomfort, difficulty conceiving, infertility, etc., the patient should see a doctor because it may be a sign of blocked fallopian tubes. Depending on the individual case, the doctor will recommend the appropriate treatment method.

To prevent blocked fallopian tubes, women need to keep their private parts clean, have proper menstrual hygiene, and have safe sex to prevent infections and sexually transmitted diseases. Immediately examine and treat immediately when there are signs of suspected genital infection. Appropriate contraceptive measures should be used to prevent unwanted pregnancy and abortion…
